Cadogans Boxers
Very Occasional litters of AKC Boxer Puppies
Cadogans Boxers is located in Clinton, Iowa, USA |
Before we can talk about Cadogans boxers, I must first give thanks to my wonderful career in the water industry which allows me to spend my evenings and weekends following my passion of Boxers. Without my day job there would be no Cadogans Boxers and while juggling a management position with taking care of the dogs is never easy, I am grateful to be able to follow my passions both at work and at home with the dogs. |
I take pride in the boxers I breed and have spent years importing the best bloodlines, ruthlessly spaying or neutering the dogs that can not pass their health tests, and only going on to breed those that are excellent examples of the breed. I have spayed/neutered/placed more dogs than have made the cut and been used to produce our next Cadogans puppies. |
A wise judge once told me that when breeding it is critically important that we breed 1st for temperament - a loveable dog has a much better chance of always being loved by his/her family. 2nd we must breed for health - to honor those families with a dog that will live a long and happy life and only after both of those, do we breed for 3 type - or the dogs looks |
#1 I demonstrate my dogs temperament by putting Canine Good Citizen (CGC) tests on the majority of my adults along with multiple generations of therapy dogs. |
#2 Detailed health test results are all listed on the webpage & hard copies are available for review |
#3 You are welcome to judge their conformation yourself - there are many, many pictures of all the dogs both here and on our MeWe page at: ***** Cadogans Boxers **** if you would like to review our dogs both dressed up for shows and in their every day clothes as happy, much loved pets. |
Outside of work, taking care of the dogs, and our weekly therapy dog visits we also try to find time for a litter per year, a few shows per year, and as many other dog events as we can fit in. To be clear, all dogs and puppies live inside the house and are pets first and foremost. Our dogs are always available to meet potential families so you can judge for yourselves their brains and beauty - however we do restrict visitors to the property when we have unvaccinated puppies on site. |
All puppies live inside and are raised underfoot. Puppies are dewormed weekly. Tails are removed at 2-3 days old and at 6weeks they receive their first distemper vaccine and vetcheck. Puppies are treated preventatively for both giardia and coccidia as we are considered high risk for both due to our high level of doggy-activities that we participate in. Puppies are ready to leave at 8 weeks. All dogs and puppies are fed a mix of raw food and Purina Pro Plan Focus dog food - no by-products, corn, or other fillers just quality protein and vitamins for a great start in life. We send home a ziploc of their current food so the new family can gradually switch them to the food they prefer. Delayed vaccination protocols are available upon request. Early neurological stimulation is available on request to a specific puppy - some of the data is conflicting on if this makes better pets so while our pups are extremely well handled from birth on, we do not follow the specific ENS protocol unless specifically requested. |
All puppies will be up to date on vaccines, deworming, heartworm preventative, and flea and/or tick prevention when picked up. All puppies come on limited (pet) AKC registration unless otherwise discussed |
We are proud of our health tested dogs and more than happy to share copies of all test results
